we have to do better here in Congress, and I hope today's hearing will give us a solid path for how we should progress with a strong bipartisan bill.

I believe, as I know you do, that one of America's greatest and most sacred treasures is the men and women in uniform who risk and sometimes sacrifice their lives for the cause of American freedom.

Given the importance of this region to U.S. interests I would think we would want to maintain the best possible intelligence collection capabilities in the theater.

I would oppose any effort to impose new aircraft noise restrictions that may undermine our national aviation and airport system.
