Annie L. McLane Kuster is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district since January 3, 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Kuster has focused on issues such as healthcare, women's rights, and economic development throughout her tenure in Congress. She has been an advocate for expanding access to affordable healthcare and has worked on initiatives to support small businesses in her district.
As we begin to slowly emerge from the depths of the pandemic, we have come away with a new appreciation for the vital role that SNAP plays in our country.
Abruptly losing SNAP benefits when your income reaches 130 percent of the poverty line can create a very rough transition for families at a critical moment.
So we must reevaluate how the grid operates and where it is built to take advantage of these resources.
As you referenced in your testimony, the evolution to a clean grid poses significant challenges for how our Nation moves electricity.
Transmission is really a key component and attribute to the clean energy strategy.
It is critical for this committee to identify and advance legislation that will support the healthcare delivery and public health approaches for these impacted communities.
We need to take a comprehensive approach to tackling this problem, which includes everything from expanding primary care options to increasing access to fresh foods and produce.
I have often said that this pandemic pulled back the curtain on so many health inequities and injustices.
I also want to highlight my bipartisan bill, also with Dr. Bucshon, that would provide critical funding to bolster our immunization infrastructure around the country and bring it into the 21st century.
