I appreciate the efforts being made to address these important issues.

The reality is that these RVOs will slash demand for biofuel and will have devastating, long-lasting consequences for Iowa farmers and producers.

I want to believe that the Biden administration does want to support rural America, and I know that Iowa farmers want to believe that, too.

We need action now, and unfortunately, the President has shown a reluctance to forcefully engage on free trade.

In the Farm Bill, we included a tribal self-determination procurement demonstration project.

We just need to keep promoting it, Alaska salmon and halibut, and all the great fish there.

The idea was to get better coordination between Interior, Commerce, and Treasury.

We need to do more to empower Native American entrepreneurs.

What can the CFTC do, in your opinion, to really make a difference for them?

We should use the existing programs.

The House Reconciliation bill imposes a new fee on methane emissions, which I am sure concerns our Chairman, as well as myself, which is--it is just a tax on natural gas.

Are there things that you will try to do with the CFTC that would help our small farmers and ranchers better hedge their livestock or crops?

I think we are creating a financial market where credits are going to be bought and sold, and it is important to have a market that has integrity, that has transparency, and that is free from fraud and manipulation.

You need to understand, this issue is still very real and one that I think is crying out for some solutions.

Are there steps that the Administration should take to provide more flexibility to ranchers looking for additional sources of forage?

Yes. And the Ranking Member actually asked one of the questions I was going to ask in terms of some of these other programs that can be helpful.

The year 2020 exposed some very significant vulnerabilities in the way we price milk in the Federal Milk Marketing Order systems.

I am excited to be on this Subcommittee, helping out our dairy farmers.

Our policy should not pick winners and losers based on the farm size or geography.

One of the things that we included in the Great American Outdoor Act was funding for deferred maintenance out in the grasslands and other areas.

I am a strong supporter of our nuclear deterrent, not only the two legs of the triad located at Minot Air Force Base with our B-52s and the Minuteman III ICBMs, but also the submarine based leg of the triad.

The key is access, you know, because you may have loved ones that have to travel a distance if they can't get their loved one in a nursing home close.
