Heidi Heitkamp is an American politician and attorney who served as the United States Senator from North Dakota from 2013 to 2019. A member of the Democratic-NPL Party, she was the first woman elected to the Senate from North Dakota. During her tenure, Heitkamp focused on issues such as agriculture, energy, and rural development, advocating for policies that benefited her state's economy and communities.
I think in a much smaller scale, we are in that same discussion here with the American economy, which is how do we--with sequestration, which is a form of austerity----how do we make those appropriate balances.
And as we have heard earlier from earlier testimony on this panel, we are already seeing some of that flow.
So, it is a lot easier when you control both the fiscal policy and the monetary policy.
You know, there is an old expression, do not go looking for trouble. Trouble will find you.
The biggest challenge was probably funding and figuring out how to get money in order to make money.
We cannot continue to air drop in resources erratically when suicides spike in Indian communities and turn around and abandon those communities when patchwork funding runs out.
