This is the first time a North Carolina trooper has ever won this competition, which recognizes the Nation's top roadside inspector. Berrong, who resides in the community of Mulberry, competed against 51 other roadside inspectors representing jurisdictions across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Trooper Berrong is stationed in Wilkes County and is a 14-year veteran of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
