On the recordMarch 14, 2013
I am used to hyperbole on this floor. I'm used to hyperbole from my colleague from Massachusetts, but I really think this one was a little over the top. This bill does not kill the employment program with SNAP, and only 6.8 percent of the recipients of food stamps even participate in that program. So to say that this bill is going to create additional hunger in this country is really over the top a little bit. The best way we can help people who are hungry in this country is to help them get a good-paying job, and that's what we need to be doing. With that, I yield 2 minutes to my colleague from Ohio (Mr. Stivers).
