Mr. Speaker, as our colleagues have noted, States and localities may enact higher minimum wages than the Federal minimum wage, and there are examples of that. But let's leave freedom in the hands of the people, in the hands of the States. That is what this country is all about. In socialist regimes, all decisions are made by a small group of people at a central government. That is not the American way.
