I thank my colleague from California, the distinguished chairman of the Rules Committee, for yielding. I just did an interview with the TV station in my district. One of the questions that the interviewer asked is, ``What does this mean to the average person in your district? People are paying attention to what's going on in D.C.'' And I said, ``That's probably the best thing that's happened out of this whole debate, that people are paying attention. It is good to hear our friends say they don't share the values of trying to save hardworking Americans' money from waste, fraud, and abuse, which are rampant in the Federal Government. The American people know that, Mr. Speaker. They know…
The money that we’re clawing back in this rescissions package is the people’s money. We ought not to forget that.
