It's a new day for Indian Country. It's a new day for tribal sovereignty. And it's a new day for prosperous tribal economies.
As Interior Secretary, Mr. Zinke will fill a key role in the government-to-government relationship with Shakopee and every other tribal government.
The Administration has an opportunity to foster a new economic period of productivity.
All of what the Shakopee Tribe does, for others, and with other governments, rests on one basic foundation--the Shakopee Tribe is a government, a sovereign, worthy of respect by other sovereign governments.
Regardless of political party, our duty as Americans is to uphold our trust responsibilities and consult and collaborate on a government-to-government basis with Tribes from Maine to Alaska.
