I appreciate my colleague Mr. Young's bill requesting NOAA to send a report to Congress on incorporating more data and stock assessment from our states and the NGOs into fisheries management.

We have to assure that NOAA incorporates the full results of the Great Red Snapper Count into their next stock assessment of red snapper.

But from what I can tell, NOAA has a long way to go.

I promise you, we are harvesting at a sustainable level in Alabama.

States on the Gulf Coast, like Alabama, have bent over backward to develop accurate monitoring systems for red snapper.

I find it very hypocritical of the Biden administration to preach to us about the environment, but ignore this important component of offshore drilling called GOMESA.

Like most of my colleagues here, I am very upset about the Biden administration's moratorium on new oil and gas leases.

What I see, this is about taking America's resources away from American people and giving more power to unelected bureaucrats.

This is not about the environment because every fisherman in Alabama, when they get in those Alabama waters, they are environmentalists.

What I have concluded is that NOAA has its own environmental agenda, and they would rather see no fishing at all.
