Allocating exorbitant levels of funding on projects that fail to account for actual consumer demand and future costs will only create unnecessary new burdens.

In certain circumstances, passenger rail can benefit our transportation network.

We must support new technology that increases the safety and efficiency of these systems while meeting the transportation demands of Americans.

I look forward to working with Members of the Committee and stakeholders as we prepare to reintroduce this legislation.

If nothing else, the last year has shown us that opportunities for aerospace innovation are endless.

During the advancement of new ideas, technology, and careers, we must maintain a high standard for safety.

It is important to keep in mind that small and rural communities may face differing sets of circumstances.

Communities continue to face shifting challenges and increasing costs related to wastewater infrastructure.

Therefore, we have to be mindful of how any new requirements on industry will add to the cost of transporting goods.

I would also note that today, U.S. agriculture exporters are being devastated by higher shipping costs related to the existing container shortages in many areas.

We ultimately want to work together on a bipartisan bill, but that does require commitment from both sides.

I look forward to hearing from Members about their policy priorities ahead of our upcoming surface transportation markup in May.

I think it would be a mistake to box out any type of fuels.

Infrastructure means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but to myself and to my colleagues on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, it is about the highway bill.

I think it needs to be a priority that we continue to clarify that COVID relief funding needs to reimburse the transit contractors' payroll and operating expenses.

We need to invest taxpayers' money wisely where it helps them the most.

I don't think the bill can grow into a multitrillion-dollar catchall. It needs to be manageable and responsible.

There is no question in my mind about that.

Many of us on this committee spent a lot of blood, sweat, and tears putting the INFRA program together.

I hope you will work with us to ensure long-term solvency in the Highway Trust Fund by working with us, obviously, to ensure a viable user fee system.

We passed legislation that has a lot of requirements that helps to lay the groundwork for that technology.
