We are trying to do a lot to increase transparency, just getting young people and their families basic information, what is a grant, what is a loan.

John Kline is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's 2nd congressional district from 2003 to 2017. During his tenure, Kline served on several key committees, including the Education and the Workforce Committee, where he focused on education reform and workforce development. What I have been asking for, is a commitment to increase funding for special education.
Each year, he is faced with the undesirable task of defending a bloated budget full of new, unproven programs.
I absolutely voted against that, because it set us on this path where we are running up huge deficits and debts that keep piling on.
More programs and higher spending have had little measurable impact on students' academic achievement.
If we want to keep high-wage, high-skilled jobs here, the only way to do that is to increase access to some form of higher education.
The President's budget, as you know, never balances, continues to add to our nation's debt and to the burdens of our children forever, whereas the Ryan budget balances within 10 years.
We need an administration to work with Congress to advance lasting solutions for the challenges facing schools nationwide.
