Denis Richard McDonough is an American political advisor currently serving as the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, a position he has held since February 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, McDonough has a long history of public service, including roles as Deputy National Security Advisor and Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama. His tenure in the Obama administration was marked by significant involvement in national security and foreign policy matters.
We are determined to meet these goals laid out in the program, because the President expects us to, but as importantly, because our vets need it.
