With the U.S. cattle herd at its smallest size in over 70 years, many farmers and ranchers need new opportunities to stay afloat.

Clearly, we need a long-term response.

We stood up for people. We stood up for strangers, and I believe, in the end, when you’re a beacon like that, that makes people want to move to your state. That makes them want to start businesses here. All of that is tied in with housing.

If you want to take a job, you can’t if you don’t have a place to live. If you want to have kids, you can’t if you don’t have a place to put them, and that’s why I’m so devoted to this issue.
