Mr. Speaker, in brief response to the comments of the gentleman from California [Mr. Fazio], let me say I certainly appreciate his work, not only as the ranking member on the Committee on House Oversight, but also as the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Legislation of the Committee on Appropriations. He made reference to some of the changes that we have made and the increased costs that may accrue, as well as perhaps the inability of Members to perform their functions as well as they should in responding their constituents. Let me assure the gentleman from California that I am certainly, as a member of the Committee on House Oversight, very sensitive to concerns about being able to serve the needs of our constituents. Clearly, if any of the actions taken would in any way interfere with our ability to represent our constituents, I am sure the Committee on House Oversight would be willing to consider adjustments on that score.
