I share the regret expressed by the chairman of the Committee on House Oversight that the minority leader is not here, because not only would I like to have him hear my remarks but, frankly, I wanted to compliment him on the manner in which he presented his statement and his case, in a very straightforward manner, dealing with the facts. And that is what we are trying to do in this case. In response to the gentleman from Connecticut, I will answer just one of his questions. He asked if someone here would stand up and say how we would deal if Mr. Dornan had won by 10 votes. I do not care how many votes he might have won by, he would have been treated the same way as the present coutestee and the case would have been handled the same way. In regard to the contestee in the case, the gentlewoman from California [Ms. Sanchez], I commend her for her statement, and I want to assure her and assure every Member of Congress that I do not in any way question her actions.
