On my watch, Michiganders have been protected from any rate increases due to data center development and we adopted some of the strongest protections for people and communities, but we need to do more.

It’s simple: any data center company that wants to invest in Michigan must ensure working families do not pay a single penny for data center development or operations, protect our natural resources, and create local, good-paying jobs.

This was political gamesmanship at its worst.

Had the House presented these bills to me in a timely manner, as the Constitution requires, today would have looked much different.

If that can't be ensured, then Gov. Whitmer will end Michigan's support for the America 250 mission.

I always will continue to be a strong supporter of women’s rights and freedoms, but that’s never going to stop me from caring about and fighting for men, too.

Michiganders have spoken loud and clear: they support these protections and they expect their leaders to act.

It is extremely important that we have a strong framework in place to put Michigan in the lead on data centers and keep us competitive for transformational projects that grow our economy and create thousands of good-paying jobs.

The proposed ICE detention center in Romulus was widely opposed by the local communities.

Together, we can build a brighter future and help every Michigander have a classic Michigan story.

Finally, let’s keep bringing supply chains and jobs back home to Michigan by shoring up our economic development toolkit so anyone can ‘make it’ in Michigan.

To improve education, let’s deliver a budget that expands free pre-K for all and makes community college tuition-free for every high school graduate.

Let’s build more housing to expand supply and lower costs, and save family caregivers thousands on their taxes.

This year let’s keep our foot on the accelerator by continuing to focus on the issues that make a real difference in people’s lives.

We put together a heck of a record in 2023 and we are starting 2024 ready to rock.

I look forward to sharing my vision with my Republican and Democratic partners in the legislature. Let’s roll up our sleeves and keep getting things done.

We still face big challenges, but I know that if we all play on the same team—Team Michigan—we can win.

By working across the aisle, we have cut taxes by a $1 billion for seniors and working families, fed every student free school meals, build a ton of housing, and fixed a lot of roads.

I look forward to delivering my 2025 State of the State Address where I will lay out my plan to build on our years of strong, bipartisan progress and strategic, fiscally responsible leadership.
