Governor Whitmer spoke with President Trump today to ask him to direct the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to lift the stop-work order.

The deal lacks firm, enforceable protections to ensure the dams will be properly maintained and safely retired when they are no longer economical to operate.

The fund is too little, too late, and too difficult to access – leaving the Fund unable to prevent near-term safety failures or reliably cover the dams’ enormous long-term costs.

I am calling on Enbridge to pursue an alternative to both the existing dual pipelines and the tunnel, and to begin that work now.
