I have got to, one, express concern that you are rolling back, have either weakened or rolled back 95 important environmental regulations.

I am somebody that believes that these decisions are best made by the individual woman and her doctor.

Government at all levels failed the people of Flint. Now we have a moral obligation to fix it.

It is on each one of us here in Congress and the government to ensure that no city in America ever experiences what Flint experienced.

A special thank you to Michigan Congresswoman Debbie Dingell for all of her leadership and support of Flint kids during the crisis and since.

I would like to briefly recognize an important witness here today, Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, from the great state of Michigan.

Which is why we need the bill. And it is in the blood, for everybody here, of 99 percent of the people in this country and they don't know it.

Flint water taught us something. As other states start to test, they are going to be as bad as Michigan.

With the passage of the--with the PFAS Action Act earlier this month, the committee has taken big strides needed to kickstart the cleanup of legacy PFAS contamination.

In my bill, the Keep Food Containers Safe from PFAS Act is one of the bills that we are considering or having hearings on today.

We do think that Congress needs to step in because FDA hasn't appreciated the urgency of this issue.

Thank you, Madam Chair and Ranking Member Burgess, for convening this hearing and including important public health legislation, including my bill, the Keep Food Containers Safe from PFAS Act.

I hope the Agency takes more definitive action soon.

The Keep Food Containers Safe from PFAS Act introduced by Congresswoman Debbie Dingell forces the FDA to confront the issue of PFAS chemical contamination in food wrappers and containers.

No one knows better than Michigan how urgent this problem is and how overburdened many communities already are.

This lack of knowledge poses a public health risk.

We have just started it, it has gone recreational marijuana the last couple of weeks.

I am pretty passionate about it now.

I have never smoked marijuana, and don't think I ever will smoke marijuana.

I think there is bipartisan frustration on this issue.

This bill would not only sustain those jobs and another 134,500 manufacturing jobs in the United States, but it would create another 33,000 high quality American jobs.

If we are to remain competitive, we can't afford to sit on the sidelines.

This is a good, strong bill. It does have bipartisan support. And it is important that we stay at the forefront of innovation in this country, strengthen our economy, protect our consumers, and protect our environment at the same time.

I think this is very important legislation. I think that if you are not in your position a lot of people that are watching this hearing probably don't understand a lot of what they are listening to.
