Mr. Chairman, the Weatherization Assistance Program is used to increase the energy efficiency of residences occupied by low-income individuals. I know that there are a number of changes that many in this body would like to see made to these programs, but for whatever reason, those changes are not going to be occurring. On that basis, I think it is appropriate to seek some level of stability in funding for these programs so that to the extent that there are disagreements between the administration and the Congress, that those who are in need of this assistance are not caught in the crossfire. On that basis, I would support the amendment which will introduce consistency and stability in the funding of this very important program.
