I have introduced the Prescription Drug Affordability Act with Senator Bernie Sanders.
Elijah Cummings
The Public Record
Elijah E. Cummings was a prominent American politician and civil rights advocate who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Maryland's 7th congressional district from 1996 until his death in 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Cummings was known for his commitment to social justice and his efforts to address issues such as healthcare, education, and civil rights. Throughout his tenure, he was a vocal advocate for the rights of marginalized communities and worked to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities.
You could use that attention to come clean, to right your wrongs, and to become one of the most effective patient advocates in the country.
I want to ask you to--no, I want to plead with you to use any remaining influence you have over your former company to press them to lower the price of these drugs.
People's lives are at stake, because of the price increases you imposed and the access problems that have been created.
I have literally been inundated with letters from families, hospitals, and patient groups begging--not asking, begging--for relief from these astronomical price increases.
I completely support your decision to bring Mr. Shkreli to make sure that he asserted his Fifth Amendment right before this committee.
Hardworking American families should not be forced to pay increases of 10 percent, 100 percent, or 1,000 percent, just to subsidize the lavish lifestyles of hedge fund managers and corporate executives.
And so we do not know the full extent of the damage that was caused, but we know it is grave.
100 percent of the responsibility lies with these employees at MDEQ; there's no question.
EPA had the chance because of Miguel Del Toral to be the hero here, and Ms. Hedman snatched defeat for EPA from the jaws of victory.
If I'm being poisoned and I can't wash with the water. I can't drink the water, and then you are going to make me pay for the water? I mean, that doesn't make any sense.
We will get to the bottom of this. And, as Mr. Walberg said, we will do it in a bipartisan way.
Governor Snyder's account of events leading to this water crisis are completely wrong.
I close by highlighting a few additional provisions of FOIA. This bill would require agencies to review existing records to identify categories of records to proactively disclose rather than waiting for FOIA requests. The bill would also…
The bill before us, the Federal Intern Protection Act, would close a loophole in Federal employment law that currently leaves unpaid interns open to discrimination and sexual harassment. Earlier this year our committee held a hearing at…
As I close. Madam Speaker, there have been several cases where interns have tried to bring suit and the courts have said that you have no remedy. Chairman Chaffetz is absolutely right. It is sad when you can have such an egregious act but…
