I share Ms. Speier's frustration that now we are dragging in messaging issues and bringing them into this debate.
It does cause me some level of disappointment that it took so long to get here.

It is a disgrace that this is happening and that we are allowing an individual with these obvious conflicts to continue to--to be involved as a special envoy when his own personal interests are obviously overriding the national security…

But I did want to say that oftentimes, Ms. Brannon, this committee especially relies on CRS for its work.
In fact, there's actually eight studies that we rely upon, and some of these are keenly important to the work that we do.
So I just want to ask you to take back to your superiors the appreciation of this committee on both sides of the aisle for the work that CRS does.
