I mean, we could do perhaps proxy voting or Internet voting or early voting in anticipation of September.

The American people shouldn't be afraid of the IRS.

Citizens United caused the IRS to be flooded with applications from groups seeking 501(c)(4) status.

The IG letter states that there are at least two groups of specialists within the IRS that used the BOLOs.

I believe they want to work. They want to set an example for their kids and do right by their kids.

What I think we need to be focused on is a very specific conversation about how to make those programs under our jurisdiction... actually move more people with existing resources from welfare to work.

But any attempt to label programs that are designed to promote economic opportunity or help struggling Americans as 'welfare' doesn't move us toward that goal.

We are not where we need to be, but that is one topic that we will continue to push pretty aggressively.

Let me be on record as saying those names should be disclosed.

That is not meant as a political statement. Both conservative and liberal groups have taken advantage of the lack of transparency of 501(c)(4) status.

We need to get to the bottom of these problems and work together to identify solutions on what I hope will be a bipartisan basis.

These reports, including today's testimony, of targeting by the IRS of organizations based on their political views, religion, or opposition to the Administration's policies is certainly unacceptable.

Would you say that there was a litmus test?

And then last, to the extent, again, that we can develop common regulatory approaches, it can set a standard for the world.

Third, again, is getting the Treasury Department to take the role as the chair of the Financial Stability Oversight Council.

Second is just getting financial services, Mr. Neal, in the negotiations. They are not in.

The Finucane family deserves more than an apology. They deserve the full and independent inquiry that was promised earlier by Prime Minister Blair.

I have, as you know, for decades pursued many of these cases, a reminder today of how we have been vindicated in many of these instances: Guilford, Birmingham, Joe Doherty, the deportees, and, of course, Bloody Sunday.

I see a cost, but I don't see the benefit of that forced conversion.
