According to a 2013 survey by the Massachusetts Medical Society, nearly every doctor in the commonwealth that works in a practice with 10 or more providers and 75 percent of doctors in smaller practices use electronic health records.
It's still the case that the health record systems can't always match a particular scan or test result to the right person, and mismatches can be very dangerous.
So far, the Federal Government has invested $30 billion in electronic health records, in part because sharing health information between doctors can improve patient care.
