Elizabeth Ann Warren is an American attorney, academic, and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Massachusetts since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been a prominent advocate for consumer protection, economic equality, and corporate regulation. Warren gained national recognition for her work in establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and has focused on issues such as student debt relief and healthcare reform during her tenure in the Senate.
I think that is, at least, one way to try to take the parity that is in the law and make it a reality for families who are struggling with this.
I want to underline this because I think it is really important that we do more to make sure that insurance companies follow the law.
Last year, more than 2,000 people died in Massachusetts alone. This is powerfully important to me, and to the people I represent.
You said you are willing to do something that is innovative, data-based even if it turns out to be politically controversial.
I think that is powerfully important and that is what I want to see in a Surgeon General.
If confirmed, it is my intent that OASH will continue its strong leadership role in implementing both the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and the National Viral Hepatitis Action Plan.
I plan to continue this approach to ensure these materials will be available when needed for a pandemic response.
I support the goal of ensuring that all Americans have access to affordable coverage that best meets the needs of themselves and their families, including mental health services.
