Regrettably, the Congress and the FCC have already fired their opening salvo in the war on Net Neutrality and the Open Internet Order, and broadband privacy protections are the first victim.

Like the consumers we work alongside, we were disappointed when the Set-Top Box Order failed to be enacted last year.

So killing these FCC privacy rules through a CRA would create an unregulated wild west where captive consumers would have no defense against abusive invasions of their privacy by their ISP.

I fear that this is just a preview of coming attractions, and Congress or the FCC may take further actions to roll back these critical privacy protections.

This common-sense reform is long overdue. It would directly benefit consumers who currently have little, if any, choice but to rent a set-top box from their pay-TV provider for months, and even years, in perpetuity.

If they don't have the kind of security that protects against a successful terrorist attack, then we are going to see them try to penetrate the loose standards that some of these power plant owners will put in place.

So I urge you very strongly, Ms. Korsnick, to have the Nuclear Energy Institute adopt the position which you did at the end of last year, that there should be independent inspections to make sure that these plants can withstand a terrorist…

Do you support that position being continued?

So you support the continuation of NRC-run force-on-force exercises, is that correct?

The 2005 Energy Policy Act includes a provision which I authored that mandates that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission conducts security inspections at U.S. nuclear power plants.

It is absolutely the most tragic situation to have a country with such resources and people, and to be having people lined up around stores just to get toilet paper.

I do think it is our best chance in creating a peaceful transition at this point.

I do think that blanket sanctions on the country or on particular sectors would be counterproductive in trying to find a transition or compromise between the various forces within Venezuela.

I really think it is important for the United States to publicly announce that we think the dialogue is over.

It was deeply demoralizing to the opposition in Venezuela to see Tom Shannon in Haiti taking Twitter pictures with Diosdado Cabello.

I do not know why we have an OAS if it does not defend democracy.

What is extremely disheartening is that Venezuela's oil wealth is being taken for corruption.

There is one person who is responsible for this, and that is President Maduro. He has become an authoritarian leader, which is unacceptable.

This is a failing state, make no mistake about it. And we have a direct United States security interest in reversing what is happening in Venezuela.

Would you oppose cuts in the E-Rate program?

My hope is that when we do an infrastructure bill, that we, like broadband, think about these infrastructure investments as well.

We already have a template for success in 2009 in western Massachusetts. We actually received $45 million as part of the Recovery Act to build 1,200 miles of fiber optic cable connecting 120 communities to broadband, 400,000 households and…
