If we fail to give diplomacy the tools and resources needed for success, we do so at our peril.

The research is overwhelming in demonstrating that the active participation of women in resolving conflict leads to longer-term peace, and importantly, better outcomes for communities.

At its core, diplomacy is about people.

So if we want to be as effective as we can be to increase stability throughout the world and be smart about our expenditures overseas, investing in women's participation in security at the local, national, and international levels is key.
