He does not deserve to be talked to that way, and he at least ought to have the ability to defend himself.

That's an absurd claim. No one should make a claim to a witness who's a military service member to say he was missing in action.

This committee unfortunately hasn't put a focus on China that needs to be placed on not just in holding China accountable, but also, doing more work to try to bring some of that manufacturing back.

I applaud President Trump for invoking the Defense Production Act, and using so many other tools that he's had available to meet this challenge to increase the production of ventilators, masks, gloves, so many other PPE supplies.

But for somebody to suggest that a program that has over a 99 percent success rate is a failure or shouldn't have happened is ludicrous.

I applaud the Trump administration for implementing Operation Warp Speed to push more results for families, to get more testing, to get more cures, therapies.

And, again, as Dr. Green pointed out, there are thousands of people dying because they're staying at home.

I'm glad that in your testimony you made clear that you're getting that cooperation from the Trump administration.

Victims' families, by the way, have been contacting us by the thousands asking for that same data, and the governors are refusing to get it.

Some of us on this committee have been demanding answers from five governors who went against CMS guidelines on nursing homes.

In an eight-week period, to give out over 4.6 million loans and to see it, by and large, being carried out the way we would all expect it to do, is, I think, something we should be applauding.

But, in the meantime, for somebody to suggest that the administration is refusing to cooperate kind of flies in the face of what you are testifying before us today about, that there is cooperation, there's negotiation.

I am encouraged to hear that you are testifying that you are in a negotiation to get the data that you are looking for from the administration.

Forty-five Governors, Republican and Democrat, followed CMS guidelines in properly protecting their nursing home patients.

We should all be glad that we're increasing testing.

I would hope there are not people rooting against an economic recovery for their own political benefit.

Clearly, getting our economy reopen is where we need to be focused, because we've seen that the devastating consequences of people staying at home is costing lives.

I don't know what the Governor of New Jersey is hiding.

We owe it to our Nation's seniors and their families who want to know why their parents and grandparents died who shouldn't have died.

Last week, my Republican colleagues and I raised the disturbing specter of the deadly decision by a handful of Governors to force COVID-positive patients back to nursing homes.

I urge Speaker Pelosi and the entire Democrat Party to join us, encourage these states to speed up the opening of this economy.

We can make ourselves better prepared while creating new jobs.
