We see an increased use of children by human and drug traffickers because of our policies.

These are not anomalies. This is what is going on, on a regular basis.

And that is why I am focused on ending sanctuary cities.

We could have had substantive hearings, but no, we are going to have a show, a dog-and-pony show.

Do you believe Heller provides us with enough protection against ill-conceived legislation that may be well intended, but that may run afoul in that Second amendment right.

It has not resulted in more gun violence.

Do you believe that when States allow trusted, law-abiding citizens to exercise their constitutional rights through 'shall issue' provisions and others like it that gun violence can, indeed, be prevented?

It is fundamental, and it is foundational.

The best way for anyone who is in danger to be able to protect themselves is through some means of protecting themselves, having a weapon.

It is something that the law could not take away.

We just think that this particular bill is not an effective step to achieving that desired end.

H.R. 1 takes power away from the voters. It is my opinion that this is the opposite of a 'bill for the people.'

I appreciate him bringing this forward. Along with Reps Marino and Chu and Smith, we have been working on this bill, and I do believe there is a path forward.

So this is something that I appreciate being an original co-sponsor of the CASE Act, and I think it is very important for small creators to have this level playing field.

This hearing gives us an opportunity to examine the Copyright Alternative and Small-Claims Enforcement Act, also known as the CASE Act.

We have created a situation in California where either we are under water or on fire.

The time has come for Congress to modernize the ESA.

The ESA imposes many burdensome and duplicative regulations on America's hardworking farmers and ranchers.

Proponents of preserving this antiquated law despite its obvious failings do a disservice to both the listed species, as well as the surrounding communities.

We cannot, however, allow the fear of challenging the status quo prevent us from taking a hard look at the ineffective policies put in place decades ago that have failed to meet the goals of the underlying legislation.
