This is going to be a high priority for this Committee and I know Senator Snowe shares my passion for this issue of eliminating all regulations that are unnecessary, burdensome, and harmful to small business.

I think this is something that both Senator Snowe and I feel strongly about, and we are going to pursue it.

We realize we have far to go.

The Federal Government does not put people to work. Entrepreneurs put people to work.

The bottom line is our nation's revenues and spending are vastly misaligned.

I've served on this subcommittee now for about 8 years, and it's been a high priority of several of us on this subcommittee.

I would like to commend Secretary Shinseki for innovative use of a contingency fund for veterans medical services.

The President's budget proposes $2.5 billion over 10 years to align financial incentives with improved outcomes for children in foster care.

I think the American people deserve, when they purchase a ticket from an airline, they get one bag that they can check and a carry-on item in that ticket price and they absolutely get a seat and a glass of water.

I think this is a very important hearing and I just wanted to highlight for the Committee's attention five items...

I want to associate myself again with the remarks of Senator Paul and Senator Collins on this issue.

The travel industry is very important to Louisiana--and to many places, but our State has a tremendous business and industry built on travel.

We want terrorists to go elsewhere. We do not want business people and tourists to go elsewhere.

I want to also strongly object to the 35-percent cut in Science and Technology because, clearly, this is an area where we need more science, not less.

We have had the most honor air flights of any State, and I am so happy to hear that.
