Congressman Higgins, I have been living in my home since 1968. I have seen this much water fall, but I have never seen this much water rise.

I support these private investments by industry and by other organizations. An all-of-the-above energy strategy should be our path.

By what measure would you advise us to move forward with reason and seeking truth within the parameters of our constitutional authority?

It is our responsibility to address these challenges within the parameters of our constitution, and based upon a sober interpretation of the science as it is available to us.

American industry leads the planet in clean, efficient, and safe operation.

By global standards, these industries are leaders for operations conducted in the cleanest and safest manner.

Let's have no illusion about the point of today's hearing. The majority has called this meeting for the sole purpose of condemning the oil and gas and petrochemical industry.

I feel great promise for this subcommittee that we can get things done. I hope we can just keep our eyes on the truth and drive forward despite any political or ideological barriers.

It is our responsibility to provide these men and women with the resources that they have told us they need to perform their missions.

I am very concerned about the catch-and-release situation that is occurring at our Southwest Border right now and the National security risk associated with it.

Our Nation cannot afford to let one person fall through the cracks due to an information-sharing gap.

I support the Trump administration's creation of the National Vetting Center to consolidate all U.S. Government screening and vetting operations under one roof.

We need enhanced security.

I believe what we should discuss are the loopholes in our immigration laws that fuel criminal organizations.

I continue to support an all-of-the-above strategy to secure our borders, including enhanced physical barriers, 21st Century technology and additional manpower.

Our Nation is generous and compassionate. We accept over a million legal immigrants into our country every year.

Human smuggling frequently can lead to sexual assault and sex trafficking, endangering the lives of thousands of women and children.

By failing to secure our border and fix legal loopholes, we are enriching the criminal cartels, making them more powerful in Central America and Mexico, and enabling them to exploit new victims.

The truth is that most asylum claims prove to be illegitimate.

Because my more liberal colleagues, many of whom I greatly respect and admire, continue to obstruct needed funding for enhanced border security, 84 percent of migrants are arriving between ports of entry and crossing illegally.

I would like to remind all concerned Americans that our law enforcement professionals on the border are dealing in many cases with families that are self-separating before they get to our Southwest Border.

I believe that my colleagues and I are responsible for providing the needed funding for border security in all phases so that we can serve these children of God entering our country illegally.

As a Congress that refuses to fix these loopholes and secure our border, we are complicit in this problem.

I would remind America that there are approximately 750,000 to 800,000 American families separated because their parents have committed crimes.

Mr. Secretary, you've lied to Congress, you've misled the American people, and you are complicit in the Trump administration's intent to suppress the growing political power of the non-White population.
