I haven't actually been in the White House since August 6th because my impression was their approach to how to handle this was different from mine. If any of you have been around May -- since May 1st, I've said, wear you masks and practice social distancing. It's the only way we know how to prevent the spread until we get a vaccine.

Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I've received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff.
I’m still working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors’ orders. Unfortunately, that means I won’t be able to make it to Fancy Farm, Kentucky…
On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period.
So I hate that I’ll miss the fun this year, but I’m sending my best wishes to the St. Jerome community for a successful picnic.
