But, my, how times have changed. Today, western Kentucky is a conservative Republican sea of red.

Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I've received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff.

As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time. And on the advice of my doctors, I won't be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet.

I still have unfinished business to complete on your behalf, and I have every intention of finishing the job you elected me to do.
