We need more agents and support staff on the northern border. In fact, in the House report, we continue to admonish the INS for their failure to address the problems along the northern border, as well as their failure to hire the Border Patrol we have already funded for them. In fact, INS has still not yet hired over 1,700 agents that we provided funding for within the last 2 years. However, I will note that the Spokane border sector in Mr. Nethercutt's district will receive an additional three agents in the near future.
