“Last week when we put forward this notion of doing away with the marriage penalty, one of my Democrat colleagues said, ``I would be willing to do that if you offset it by doing away with the marriage bonus.'' He raised the question of the marriage bonus in the Tax Code. I told him I am not about raising taxes. But I wonder if the Senator has thought about this issue. Is there a marriage bonus that is in the Tax Code? Is that something that should be addressed?”
