Almost every pandemic threat today is a zoonotic disease that can spread from animals to people.

I want to thank this Committee, both the ranking Member and our distinguished Chairman, for focusing on this issue.

I am happy to see that the President's budget stresses the importance of working together to fight this epidemic.

I hope that we can work together to implement many of the common-sense reforms we've been debating for so long.
