For over six decades we have worked together to create and maintain strong democratic institutions.

I would say this: it should not be an issue.

If there is one thing we want--I mean the United States wants--it is good, loyal friends, inspired by the same ideals of human dignity and decency that we ourselves cherish.

I feel now it would be futile for me to attempt anything else in the way of words.
