This is why people are so frustrated with bureaucracy, because you can not see the common sense of saving and being sensible.

This is funding we have right now which is urgently needed by our veterans across the country, specifically veterans in my rural district that I represent in central and southern Illinois.

The scare tactics from the other side of the aisle over the last few weeks about a 22 percent cut have not stopped.

They advanced a bill that fully funds VA at exactly the level that President Biden requested.

What some of our colleagues do is they tie emotion into messaging, and that is how they fall into that.

And, to put in something that would defund a program that has been so successful is just ridiculous to me.

And yet we continue to have Members of Congress that want to take a shot at it that are directly based on, what I believe, are animal activists that want to put us out of business.

This bipartisan legislation would grant more than 30,000 federal officers... retirement benefits.

We ask the committee to lend its support to this remedy.

Truckers are an essential component of our Nation's supply chain, and compensating them appropriately is the least we can do to support them.

This exemption is problematic for truckers because they are often paid by the miles they drive no matter how many hours they work.

It is only fair. And truckers work harder than just about anybody else, so, it makes it even more fair.

America was founded on capitalism and on business innovating and finding things. Trucking is a business.

I urge everyone to support Representative Nehls' Resolution 53--small business truckers, they can't afford a lot of this stuff because it continually gets dumped on them.

If you drink a beer on Sunday, you can drive on Monday. If you smoke a joint on Friday night, you ain't driving for another 30 days.

If you want to smoke it, I don't care, but the rules are very clear.

Many of you know that I was born and raised in the trucking business, my family is still in it.

Truckers want to be safe more than anybody out there, that is their office, it is where they work.

This has been a problem my entire career, and it is kind of at crisis stage now.

Truckers are mandated by hours of service on the time they can drive and the time they must rest.

We needed safe places, women especially, to park out there, and also Congressman Nehls' bill on restroom access, it is a huge problem for women and men in trucking.

NATSO and SIGMA applaud Representatives Mike Bost and Angie Craig for their work on the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act.

We encourage the committee to pass that bill as soon as possible.
