You cannot squeeze blood from a turnip.

Bringing back private debt collection is a mistake, and it should be repealed.

Mr. Commissioner, not too long ago, just maybe about three months ago I received a call at my home here on Capitol Hill. The person said, 'I am from the IRS. We are going to sue you.'

These budget cuts have resulted in the loss of 12,000 jobs, reducing employee training, delaying computer system upgrades.

What concern do you have, and if you have some concern, could you share with us about restarting this program of private debt collectors?

You are not going to do it with some bill like this. You are going to do it by giving African-American women better job opportunities and better pay.

Because we all aspire to be there one day and we're going to need the Medicare program, and so are the working people of today.

So I share the view that something more fundamental needs to change to preserve and strengthen the program for the future.

I think Medicare has some work to do to shore up its financial standing for the future.

Let me be clear. We have plenty of work to do, and this is not it.

I do not understand why we are here.

This hearing focuses on a soon-to-be resolved issue.

What are we doing here? What is the purpose of this hearing?

This is a matter for the Full Committee or the Tax Policy Subcommittee.

Thank you very much, Mr. Chairman. I want to take a moment to thank each one of you for being here, and thank you for your testimony.

I have fought long and hard for the IRS to have the resources and support it needs to serve American taxpayers.

How can we do better protecting people's identity? How can we do better at providing better service?

Are we ready? Are we prepared?

There’s not anything free in America…. I think it’s very misleading to say to the American people, we’re going to give you something free.

I believe then, as I believe now, that the administration's nuclear agreement is a good deal.

We do not need more war and conflict. War is messy. It is bloody, it destroy the hopes, the aspirations, and the dreams of a people.

We have a moral obligation, a mission, and a mandate to give peace a chance.

As we speak, the agreement is being implemented and Iran is just beginning to dismantle its nuclear weapons program.
