Bobby Rush is a former U.S. Representative from Illinois, serving from January 5, 1993, to January 3, 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Rush was known for his advocacy on issues related to children's safety and consumer protection. He worked closely with colleagues to strengthen agencies responsible for safeguarding children and emphasized the need for legislative changes to ensure the safety of products available to families. I want to associate myself with the remarks of the gentleman from Michigan, and I yield back the balance of my time.
We call it the green jobs and--blue and green jobs, and this would impact those out-of-work coal miners, minorities, women and veterans.
I certainly want to join with all my colleagues in commending Ms. Livingston, whose courage to take her pain and turn it into a pursuit of well-being for all Americans is totally commendable.
This bill would require the Secretary of Energy to establish a program relating to the physical security and cybersecurity for pipelines and liquefied natural gas facilities.
I also want to take a moment to mention my support for H.R. 362, the Energy Emergency Leadership Act, sponsored by Chairman Rush and Mr. Walberg.
Mr. Latta's bill, which he introduced along with me, H.R. 360, the Cyber Sense Act, makes important headway in protecting our critical grid infrastructure.
My bill, which I introduced along with Mr. Latta, H.R. 359, the Enhancing Grid Security through Public-Private Partnerships Act, would create a program to enhance the physical and cyber security of electric utilities.
I look forward to engaging the witnesses and also the members of the minority and working with all of you to enhance this legislation.
This morning we will be examining the Safer Pipelines Act of 2019, as well as H.R. 2139, the Leonel Rondon Pipeline Safety Act.
I believe this is a commonsense measure that would help to inform and protect communities surrounding these gathering lines.
