I may not be the first President to take up the cause of health care reform, but I am determined to be the last.

This impressive group of individuals brings tremendous experience in their respective fields and a dedication to serving this country, here at home and around the world.

I have determined that the most appropriate action is application of an additional duty on imports of certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires from China.

This may be the greatest lesson of this day.

Let us remember how we came together as one Nation, as one people, as Americans.

We honor all those who gave their lives so that others might live.

This exchange will take effect in 4 years, which will give us time to do it right.

We are the only democracy—the only advanced democracy on Earth—that allows such hardship for millions of its people.

Our collective failure to meet this challenge, year after year, decade after decade, has led us to the breaking point.
