Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Now, I don't believe malpractice reform is a silver bullet, but I have talked to enough doctors to know that defensive medicine may be contributing to unnecessary costs. So -- so -- so I'm proposing that we move forward on a range of ideas…
Let us renew our commitment to all those who serve in our defense, our courageous men and women in uniform and their families and all those who protect us here at home.
This impressive group of individuals brings tremendous experience in their respective fields and a dedication to serving this country, here at home and around the world.
I have determined that the most appropriate action is application of an additional duty on imports of certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires from China.
Let us remember how we came together as one Nation, as one people, as Americans.
This exchange will take effect in 4 years, which will give us time to do it right.
We are the only democracy—the only advanced democracy on Earth—that allows such hardship for millions of its people.
