Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States from January 20, 2009, to January 20, 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented Illinois in the U.S. Senate from 2005 to 2008 and served in the Illinois State Senate from 1997 to 2004. Obama is known for his signature policies including the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and his efforts in economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis. His presidency was marked by significant legislative achievements and a focus on healthcare reform, climate change, and foreign policy initiatives such as the Iran nuclear deal.
I can't end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to get grilled every time I come down here.
What I think unifies this group is a recognition that we are experiencing a unprecedented, perhaps, economic crisis that has to be dealt with, and dealt with rapidly.
I'm looking forward to having conversations with all the leadership here about how even as we move quickly and aggressively on the recovery package, we are also starting to put in place the kinds of reform elements, oversight…

I look forward to restoring U.S. financial support to the U.N. Population Fund.
The inheritance of our young century demands a new era of American leadership. We must recognize America's strength comes not just from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth but from our enduring values.
