As we meet here tonight we know that there is more work to be done. The Senate is still active. And after it has its final vote, we still need to resolve the differences between the House and Senate bills.

I've been baptized, believe Jesus Christ is my savior. Never been a Muslim. Nothing wrong with being Muslim. We've got wonderful Muslim- Americans, but the point is, the point is don't lie about my religion.

It wasn't supposed to be easy. That's part of the reason why we have such a stable government is because, no one party, no one individual, can simply dictate the terms of the debate.

I value the constructive criticism and the healthy debate that has taken place around this package because that's the essence, the foundation of American democracy.

And we will keep working to build bipartisanship support for action.

But what I have also said is, don't come to the table with the same tired arguments and worn ideas that helped to create this crisis.

I urge all of us not to make the perfect the enemy of the absolutely necessary.
