As I understand the issue... one of the problems we have is that in order to do the work that the NRC would need to do on this reactor, as your amendment would require, Senator Gillibrand, the reactor needs to be shut down.

I commend all of us on the Committee for the good faith and the good work that we have done to move this legislation forward.

As one of the original co-sponsors of this bill, I want to thank all of our members on the Committee for working in a bipartisan way to move this forward.

We've got NEIMA and NEICA, the two major bills that will reform both the process and create the new emphasis for going into our new advanced nuclear reactors and helping to make them much more aggressively facilitated.

The earlier that the agency is involved in the development of the technologies and the understanding of them, the more efficient and effective the regulation can be.

I do appreciate your constant focus on trying to find solutions and get to that 80 percent.

I do not think the public will be happy when they are told no hearings on this dangerous technology.

Senators Inhofe, Whitehouse, Booker and I have introduced legislation to ensure the NRC will be ready to license advanced reactor designs as companies are ready to commercialize them.

Our bill, the Nuclear Energy Innovation and Modernization Act, NEIMA, increases transparency and accountability in the NRC's budget and fee structure through modernizing reforms based on years of EPW oversight efforts.

NEIMA's improvements bring a great deal of transparency and accountability to the NRC.

But, how deep is that? Do we know how deep that liquidity is?

I do not think there is any question, as Senator Warren indicated in her questioning, that following the post-regulatory, or the post-crisis regulatory impact that we have--the reform impact that we have seen, that we see greater leverage…

And I understand that, and I do believe there is a tradeoff in here.

The credibility of the living-will process was undermined that very same day when the results were leaked.

I want to verify with you the data that I just put out.

I have privacy concerns about the CFPB's big data collection efforts and the ability to reverse engineer this information.

I appreciate your efforts on that.

Last summer, Senator Crapo and I asked the SEC to work toward transforming its whole corporate disclosure system from documents to standardized data.

We need to have some movement in terms of having our regulatory system keep up with our market structure.

We want to see things studied. We appreciate the importance of getting the appropriate data.

There is an increasing level of frustration in terms of getting around the board and back to go again.

Are you concerned that liquidity in the bond markets may be less available in stressed market conditions and that we need to better understand and analyze all the factors, including the impact of regulations on this?
