Our policy in Syria has been drifting, to say the least. And it really needs focus.

I want to thank the U.S. Government, USAID, the State Department, for years of leadership in supporting the Syrian people.

We all know that it has caused the largest humanitarian crisis on the planet since World War II.

If America is going to be active in dealing with the humanitarian needs, how do we do that with a budget that is already inadequate, cutting it by over one-third?

That is not what America stands for. We, our country, have been the leader globally in pursuing humanitarian needs.

I have grave concern about the Trump policies as to how it is assisting and dealing with the crisis in Syria.

Today marks the sixth anniversary--I use that word guardedly--to the start of the civil war in Syria.

The United States government must be a voice for the innocent people of Syria, and must be a moral compass for the parties involved.

I want to thank Drs. Farida, Abdulkhalek, and Rajab for their courageous work in upholding humanity.

The Iranians could bring this thing to a screeching halt pretty quickly if they pulled the carpet out from under the Houthis.

The parallels here to Syria are really pretty striking.
