I'm troubled. It looks to me like I'm seeing Supreme Court decisions... calculating the policy instead of the text in the Constitution.
Steve King
The Public Record
Steve King is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Iowa's 4th congressional district from 2003 to 2021. Known for his conservative views, King was a prominent figure in the House, often advocating for strict immigration policies and fiscal conservatism. He served on several committees during his tenure, including the Judiciary Committee and the Agriculture Committee, where he focused on issues important to his rural constituents. King's tenure was marked by controversy over his remarks on race and immigration, which drew criticism from both sides of the political spectrum.
I'm far more cynical on the result out of the Supreme Court on this particular case.
If you're born to an American citizen, say on some other soil, then they're automatically American citizen by virtue of the citizenship of their parents.
It is my honor and privilege to be recognized to address you here on the floor of the House of Representatives. I thank the gentlewoman for yielding and for her presentation here tonight and the collection of people who came down to…
I thank the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means--and I am delighted he is the chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means--for yielding. I rise in support of the conference report of the Customs bill. It has got many provisions…
Can we recognize that the population of our male prisons are substantially greater than the populations of our female prisons?
If they happen to see that criminals are coming out of that profile, are you prohibited, then, to give greater scrutiny, by law, to that profile?
Against the law. Could you cite the laws that prohibit law enforcement from profiling?
It's curious to me, when I look at the report from 2015, from Syria, 1,573 Sunni Muslims admitted under that and 29 Christians.
So, as law enforcement officers, are you prohibited from looking for a person based upon a profile?
I thank the chairman for working together with others to bring this bill forward. I rise in full support of H.R. 158, which is the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015. We all know that it takes a lot…
Have you looked at how to compress that so that we can get that adjudicated in a quick fashion? We know if we don't send them back, those that need to go back, they are going to keep coming.
I want to ask you on the record here, if you would produce the records, not only for children that apply for asylum, for all the asylees that apply, I'd like to see the results of that, the adjudication process, where it is, how many are…
I think it illustrates the point that the Supreme Court wants us to have bright rules so that the law enforcement officer in the field knows what to do.
I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: Add at the end the following: SEC. 17. PUBLIC TRANSCRIPTS OF FOMC MEETINGS. Section 12A of the Federal…
Amendment No. 6 is an amendment that addresses the transparency that we have heard much dialogue about in the debate here on the floor, especially from members of the Financial Services Committee. It is an amendment that requires that the…
And I will conclude for the Chairman, that if we are going to save ourselves, we have to also intervene and provide a safe zone, international safe zone, for the persecuted religions, which are the Syrian Christians and the Chaldean…
I just back from there a week ago. I was in the Kurdish region and over to the frontlines...
