Katherine Chi Tai is an American attorney and trade policy expert currently serving as the United States Trade Representative since March 2021. She is notable for being the first Asian American and the first woman of color to hold this position. In her role, Tai has focused on addressing trade issues and promoting fair trade practices, particularly in relation to China and other global partners. Her work emphasizes the importance of labor rights and environmental standards in trade agreements.
I think it is absolutely worth exploring with China, but I also want to note that those are conversations, and those are roads that have been well-worn by U.S. Trade Representatives before me.
I would like to thank you for this opportunity to clarify, when I talk about being confirmed and advancing a worker-centered trade policy, that 'workers' does absolutely include agricultural workers--our farmers, our small family farmers…
