I am here today to urge this subcommittee and, indeed, the full House Appropriations Committee, to invest federal dollars in programs that support economic development for smaller tribes.

It is through initiatives like these that smaller and less well-off tribes like the Catawbas who have limited or no economic development can take control of their future.

The appropriations process is vital to fulfilling federal treaty needs and trust obligations, and we encourage you to continue to fight the good fight.
