Georgia in 2019, as you pointed out, passed a forced pregnancy bill, a ban on all abortions after six weeks with very limited exceptions. And what that ban reveals is their intention going forward.

Stacey Abrams is a prominent Democratic politician and activist from Georgia, known for her work in voting rights and social justice. She gained national recognition as the Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017, where she focused on issues such as education, healthcare, and economic development. Abrams is also the founder of Fair Fight Action, an organization aimed at combating voter suppression and advocating for fair elections. Her efforts in mobilizing voters in Georgia played a significant role in the 2020 presidential election and the subsequent Senate runoff elections in 2021.
We could very well risk Georgia being one of the states that invalidates or nullifies the outcome of an election.
In 2020, black American women did what we were made to do and drag democracy back into the light and make sure that the will of the American people was heard.
This is a nation and a state that has been hurt by pandemic and by injustice. But we also have opportunity.
We have, in the state of Georgia, a prime example of why secretary of state matters in multiple ways.
My decision to run for governor, both in 2018 and again today, is because of something you said. It's about regular people.
We cannot afford inaction. And while the ECA may be a solution to a smaller problem, it is not the solution to the massive crisis that is facing our democracy.
Voter suppression does work. But one of the ways we were able to combat it in 2018, defeat it in 2020 and 2021, was the sheer volume of people who pushed against those barriers.
Polling is a snapshot. And it is not the Oracle of Delphi. It's not a predictor of what will be.
