Johnny Isakson was a prominent Republican politician from Georgia who served as a United States Senator from 2005 until his resignation in 2019. Prior to his Senate tenure, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1999 to 2005. Throughout his political career, Isakson was known for his focus on issues such as education, healthcare, and veterans' affairs, often advocating for policies that supported these areas. He played a significant role in various legislative efforts, including those related to nuclear energy and environmental regulations.
I would like for you to comment on the concept of a one-stop shop where everybody that wants to help veterans comes together.
You mentioned one-stop. Senator Murray and I are on the Labor Committee and the Subcommittee on Occupational Safety and we oversee the Workforce Investment Act.
Without that, States just do not have the resources because they cannot hire the staff.
I am just delighted to be here today to talk about the reauthorization and enrichment of the Workforce Investment Act.
I never knew a finer representative in the assembly, and I am sure there is no better commissioner of labor in the United States.
I would just encourage both of you to consider when you are talking about interagency cooperation, do not forget those catalysts for public transportation.
There are a lot of people with disabilities who are employable with assisted technology, and that gets missed.
